Our Projects
We love to participate. Below you’ll find images of our projects. We often team up to help other Rotary clubs or organizations. By joining up with other like-minded organizations, we multiply our endeavors for good.
Annual Guatemala Trip
We team up with other clubs to travel every year to Guatemala. Depending on the year, we provide vitamins, educational materials, water systems, etc. We are especially proud of the customized wheelchairs we provide to children. Members who have made the trip say it’s “life changing.”
Camp Royal
Camp Royal is a prestigious summer camp at Lake Sequoia for high school seniors. It is a leadership camp for students who are already leaders to prepare them to improve their skills during their senior year and beyond. Various local Rotary clubs provide the meals for the campers, including Rotary Club of Hanford. There are separate camps for boys and girls. The campers are grateful for the meal we provide and very interested in what Rotary is all about. It is always a fun and rewarding outing for Rotarians who participate.

Downtown Trash Pickup
For the past several years, club members team up with local Interact students to pick up trash in downtown Hanford. Afterwards, the kids are treated to pizza or hot dogs.
Rotarian Susan Tackett said, “Working with those kids inspired me and gave me faith in the younger generation!“
Ringing the Bell
Since about the year 2001, Rotary Club of Hanford has sponsored bell-ringers-for-a-week at the post office for Salvation Army. About 35 people brave the cold to participate, ringing bells from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Each year our kettle is the highest drawing kettle in Kings County with donations running from $3,000 to $5,000. Mark York, who spearheads the effort, says, “It’s a lot of fun, a good cause, and brings smiles to a lot of faces.”
Hanford Fire Department
When the Hanford City Fire Department hosted their annual open house at the Grangeville station, our club participated. We provided see-me flags for wheelchairs and attached them. We also handed out treats and distributed Rotary pamphlets. The event focuses on safety, including on-site training for children, and pre-Halloween treats. About 400 children and their parents attended.
H.O.P.E., Inc.
H.O.P.E., Inc. is guided by two club Rotarians, Johnny Johnson, DDS Rushi Panchal. They are joined by community members, Todd Cotta, and DDS David Smith. HOPE supports development in the impoverished district of Barut outside of Nakuru City, Kenya. HOPE facilitates youth education, dental clinics, job skills training, growing food security, books and school supplies, girl’s sanitary supplies (so they don’t miss school), and much more. HOPE also lends support to many Kings County community projects and works to connect local youth with others in developing countries.
The Bourbon Trail
Every fall, Rotarians sponsor and work a booth at The Bourbon Trail to pour vintage bourbons to attendees. Funds raised benefit local high school students with well-deserved scholarships.
New School Clothes for Children
A regular don’t miss event for our club members is the Soroptimist International’s Childspree event. Several Rotarians show up to be paired with children shopping for new clothes. The local Soroptimist club provides a credit card for each shopper and child. The host store then ads a discount. The event begins with a pancake breakfast, then everyone is off to shopping!
Blood Drive
Each year, our club participates in at least one blood drive for the Central California Blood Center. Numerous members cheerfully roll up their sleeves to help save lives.
